Weather

What does climate mean?

CLIMATE is defined as average weather patterns and conditions observed in a specific place. Groups like NASA have observed that the Earth’s climate has been getting warmer and warmer.

What does this mean for the weather?

A warmer climate means that temperatures in some areas may be hotter! Check out this map:

;

The darker yellow, orange and red colors on the map mean that that part of the Earth in 2018 was hotter than it was about 60 years ago. If there was no global warming, the whole entire map would probably be white! The Earth really is heating up.

A warmer climate also makes extreme weather events, like big storms, more common. Some other examples include:

  1. More hurricanes
  2. More heavy rainfall
  3. More extreme droughts
Basically, warmer temperatures mess with the Earth's natural balance! It's our job to bring the climate back to normal.
